Description:

This is an introductory course designed for students that want to build cost estimating models for their projects. Students will build an estimate in ACE and learn how other suite tools support estimate construction and reporting.

This course includes recent Inflation/Escalation changes to the software.

  • Construct a WBS
  • Set estimate schedule
  • Build estimate equations
  • Enter system quantities
  • Create model inputs
  • Apply inflation/escalation
  • Incorporate a learning curve
  • Time phase your estimate
  • Enter cost throughputs
  • Develop Cost Estimating Relationships (CERs) with CO$TAT
  • Incorporate CERs to your estimate
  • Build dynamic modeling equations with ACE Functions
  • Document your estimate inputs and methods
  • Model uncertainty on your point estimate
  • Trace the logic of a model
  • Create What-if cases in your model
  • Create estimate Reports
  • Create estimate Charts (including uncertainty charts)
  • Create a POST session for your ACE estimate

Successful students should already have a basic knowledge of the cost estimating process and spreadsheet operations. This course focuses on how to use ACEIT and does not teach underlying cost estimating principles.
